Similar to surfboards, most wetsuits are made with non-biodegradable products like neoprene.
And, in places like Southern California wetsuits, - often a few of different thickness, - are a
must to surf from November through April or May. There are some environmentally friendly
wetsuits available made from alternative to neoprene. These tend to be made from plant-based,
chlorine-free ingredients. And, some inspiring people have even developed wetsuits made
partially from recycled plastics. If surfers can afford these wetsuits, they are a great way to
reduce environmental damage.
